German Lion's Head violin circa 1890

This violin features a one piece, well-flamed slab cut maple back with matching sides. The top is two pieces of even medium grain spruce. In place of a scroll is the carved form of a lion’s head. The instrument has excellent sound and is in very fine condition.

The violin is most likely of German origin from around the turn of the twentieth century. It bears a Stradivarius label which describes the model.
